OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A little about me:
I am happily married my hero and best friend, who is a Petty Officer First Class (Sonar Tech Submarine) after thirteen years of dedicated service to his country. Unlike you parents out there as well as any significant others who met their sailor young, I have only known mine for a bit over a year. I'm curious about the beginning of the process up to mid-career and how they go from nubs to the confident and knowledgable man I married who is an amazing husband and sailor, and I am sure some of you at curious about their future in general but also the incredible transformation that will turn your sons who seemed like only children yesterday into accomplished sailors and eventually husbands and fathers.

Other than beng my sailor's cheerleader and number one fan, I am a 2008 graduate of the Univerity of Tennessee -Chattanooga with a B.S. in Political Science/American History. My job title currently housewife, but I am a jack of all trades working proudly behind the scenes to allow my husband to concentrate on the important job he does so that it is done safely and successfully. When I'm not doing a little bit of everything , I enjoy reading, playing the piano, supporting various charities and causes, and occasionally a little bit of shoe shopping.

When I heard “Navy,” I...
Needed to learn more about it
The Navy offers opportunities that...
Anything and everything can and will change. Even if you pick a date for something important such as a wedding or family vacation, don't make the mistake of thinking it's important to the Navy. I had to change our vacation and our wedding in the last eight months alone. If you plan on visiting a port, buy the travel insurance. Finally, laughing makes deployments easier. On days I found myself missing my sailor, I'd play a prank on him or buy him a gag gift. We are towards the end of our first, and he can't wait to start looking for what I did.
Our Navy experience so far...
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
