Profile Information

About me:
I have 4 children, and live in Portland Oregon
My youngest son turned 19 in the Navy

My child's FIRST name only (No Last Names Please!):
Colton
My son/daughter is:
Enlisted
I was the proudest of my child when:
He had been a top wrestler during his Jr. and High school years.
I know how hard that was and the dedication it took to continue. It is a demanding sport, that challenges you physically & mentally.
He is a very focused individual, who is very driven. I admire that about him most :)
When my son/daughter first spoke about joining the service I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud
As a new Navy mom, the most important thing I learned was:
Get connected with others that understand what you are going threw, there is nothing like the support of others !
Try to learn about the NAVY, your sailor has devoted at least 4 years of their lives to it. And it will make the transition easier if you know the role you play in this journey.

Learn how to be supportive, while letting go, and letting grow.
My son/daughter is currently in the service or retired, and now I believe:
This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Adopt a Sailor

I just found this website (thanks Shell) And decided I am going to do this. I think we N4M could make a big difference in some sailors lives if all of us would just write one letter (you can do more if you want) Geez we did this in Boot camp we can do this again. Just one letter, postcard or package a month. Lets try to see is we can do this, and if it works out we can pick a new name each month. I will try to set this up if you all want. But before I start this I need to know who would be in ?… Continue

My First Patriot Gaurd Welcome Home

I went today to our airport to welcome home a 19 year old female Sailor coming from Guam. There were about 20 of us in a flag line, people clapping and cheering.....her mom crying. I had tears flowing down my face while I held the flag. I was amazing ! The motorcade to the airport was a sight to see motorcycles with big flags on them flying in the wind, followed by cars with flags. The sailor was in shock..........we all got big hugs from her. I was so proud to be part of this. God Bless America… Continue

Snipe Poem

Many a poet have written sailor tales About South Sea Isles and furious gales So, I'll not waste your time with a tale of this type Rather, I'll write of the sweaty, greasy snipe. He works in his hole when the temperature is right When the thermometer reads one twenty Fahrenheit. There's no salt water in his blood, Just stinking fuel oil and slimey bilge crud. He goes to sea with visions of bright sun, and wind swept spray But there are no hours of this in his working day. Four hours on and ei… Continue

WOW! I was just guessing too... That must have been what Dannie was talking about!! lol! I had no idea you have done that before. That would be awesome to be involved with a homecoming. I remember seeing Jason when he finally got to come home. I will never forget that moment ever!!

Maybe he wants to have you ask Donna to go to the airport to help welcome a sailor home and have it be PD? I will ask Donnie and let you know. Have a nice day! Dawn

It was really nice talking with you last night! What a small world. Hey Donna's husband came by my office this morning and said something about you knowing when the sailors come home? Anyway, PD ( Donna's daughter) is coming home around December 18th and she is going to surprise Donna. Not really sure what he was asking me to do but he asked if I knew you personally. Do have something to do with the sailors home coming? Well, I best get back to work...talk to you soon. Dawn

The most dangerous cake recipe IN the world:

5-MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

Small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug (must be microwave-safe mug)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed - it won’t spill over! Use pot holders to remove from microwave as it will be hot. Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate. If desired, serve warm with ice cream. Enjoy! (This can serve two if you want to share!)

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake any time of day or night!

Hi there Molly, I have gotten to talk to both of those wonderful women. The funny thing is that I have talked to both of them but not on the Corpsman group. I think I am just feeling a little down today & missing my other moms form Div 901. What is this song you have playing on your page? I love it!!!!!!
