** Admin speaks out on soliciting on N4M’s.**

Ladies, Gents… In the past few weeks there has been a few events where people have talked about stories in which help is needed via donations of some sort. And knowing how big the N4M’s hearts are, many responded right away. After a debate with my team, we had decided this: we can't use this site for soliciting money or items. I am not saying these heartbreaking stories are fake- but how do I know if everyone that asks for money or items is telling the truth? I don’t. I can’t do ba… Continue

Thank you for welcoming to your community. Right now I guess I am still just in shock and don't know what to say. All I have done is cry since my son Justin left for boot camp. I got the "box" today and can't stop crying. I just want to hear from him. I signed up for Navy moms to read what other moms go through at a time like this. I have no support, family wise so I guess I am just reaching out to this site for my support. Thanks again and if I can ever stop this darn crying and get over this depression, I promise to write more. Sincerely, Renee

Good luck on your journey into the world of vegetarians. If you get through two months, I think you may see a difference in how you feel. It is cool that your husband is supportive; and you are right, it is for you. We all need to take care of ourselves; especially Moms as we always take care of others. Enjoy the weekend as well and thanks again for your help. PCW is a way maybe to separate me from the other "Patty Moms".

Thank you for your welcome. I read the community guidelines and am totally on board with them. The title of my book is "Adolescent Addiction: A Failed Social Policy". It expands upon the thesis paper I had to write and defend for my Master's degree which talks of the need for a standardized alcohol and other drug (AOD) screening for adolescents who interface with the justice system. This is one of my great "soapbox" areas which I can, and do, go on endlessly about. The second book outline I am finishing before edit is a Primer about drugs and alcohol for parents. I write of the signs and symptoms of drug use, what differentiates use from abuse from dependence, the medical consequence of different substances, what an initial rehab visit looks like from screening to discharge, and so forth. As it is a primer, it consists of basic information. I believe it will be a helpful guide and one way to educate caregivers. As for being a vegetarian, I have been one for 16 years. My husband is one as well; for a bit longer than me. It is a lifestyle that we love and would not (could not) give up. We do not force our lifestyle on our children, they are all carnivores and that's fine for them. Actually my husband was a chef and cooks them great meat dishes when they visit. So, we support the lifestyles of others while they are different from ours. Must be the human service workers in us. So that is a bit more about me. I will think about a way to sign off on my postings that is a better identifier as to which Patty I am. Until then, thanks again...Patty
