Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of January (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPpers/Future Sailors....in, but not gone yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)

So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have January ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in January, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About a week after they arrive at BC, you will receive a form letter, with their Ship# and DIV # (address) on it. Check it against the ones here: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp Then, watch for your PIR (Pass in Review-i,e, Graduation) date to be posted here: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp

That IS the official date for your Recruit's Training Group to PIR, HOWEVER things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets. Wait until their PIR date is posted to do so, and don't worry, you will still have plenty of time to get your traveling ducks in a row! =) Check here for reviews and info re: hotels, PIR, travel etc: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/categories/pirpass-in-review/listForCategory

Next stop, Boot Camp Moms Group:http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms
That is where and when permanent Groups for your PIR date and Divisions will, or should, be formed.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

My son joined the Navy last week. He is scheduled to leave Jan. 11 and his job will be HT. He is very excited! I am trying to be. He is the youngest of my 4 children. Reading posts on this site has helped me to accept his leaving. I hope and pray that he does not end up having to leave earlier. I so want to have him with us during the holidays this year. I have 3 grandchildren who dearly love their uncle. His leaving will be hard on them too.

Sunshine 73- That sounds like an exciting job, and I hope the best for him.

Redfly-Welcome to the group! Looks like your son will be shipping out just a few days after my daughter, how exciting is that? Yeah I know its a sad thought that your son is leaving, but for now spend all the time you can with him and enjoy every minute of it =]

My son is 18 and joined the Navy in April right after his birthday. He is scheduled to leave on January 10, 2011 and his job will be Master at Arms....I am so glad this website exists. It helps so much....

Welcome Tracy!
Julie~my son is CTR, which is super excited about. This is why he was willing to wait. When he went to MEPS a local guy got HM. Sounds like a cool job.

Sunshine73, what is your sons selected job going to be? Shawna (my daughter) is going to be a Hospital Corpsman (HM). I have heard that it is very slim that they will see each other, but you never know.

Hi Julie! It is really cool to meet someone on here with the same ship date. One of my former students also ships on the same date. I read somewhere that the odds of them even seeing each other is very slim but it is still possible. We will have to keep in touch.

Sunshine73, looks like your son and my daughter are going to BC at the same time, maybe they'll meet each other.
