Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPpers leaving in the month of July (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

We are an extension of the group DEPpers/Future Sailors....in, but not gone yet- see the link above.

If you haven't been there, go there now....There is a ton of information that you will need and are probably dying for....like what to send with them to Boot Camp and BC videos! :)

So if you have general information and comments that will be helpful and/or encouraging for ALL new DEP/Future Sailor Moms, then leave it in that main DEPper/Future Sailors Group, but if you have July ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in July, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About a week after they arrive at BC, you will receive a form letter, with their Ship# and DIV # (address) on it. Check it against the ones here: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.asp Then, watch for your PIR (Pass in Review-i,e, Graduation) date to be posted here: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp

That IS the official date for your Recruit's Training Group to PIR, HOWEVER things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets. Wait until their PIR date is posted to do so, and don't worry, you will still have plenty of time to get your traveling ducks in a row! =) Check here for reviews and info re: hotels, PIR, travel etc: http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/categories/pirpass-in-review/listForCategory

Next stop, Boot Camp Moms Group:http://www.navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms
That is where and when permanent Groups for your PIR date and Divisions will, or should, be formed.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

I see you have joined Meridian Mississippi A School family&friends; at some point between now and the end of boot camp, you will want to join the group, Yeoman Moms, and will also want to check out Sailors attending A School in Meridian, Mississippi. There are also fB pages: NAS Meridian Facebook Page and NTTC Meridian Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for YN is found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/yn.pdf.

This website will be so comforting in the coming months, I've been there, this is my second time around with a child leaving for the Navy.

julieb1019! This is true, not any of my friends know how I feel so it feels like no one really cares/understands. Coming on this website however makes me feel happy and excited about the future. Thanks for the advise and encouraging words!

My daughter is leaving for boot camp from Hartford, CT on July 17th.  Then on to San Antonio for MAA after that.  Would love to know of anybody else who has a son/daughter with a similar schedule to share info and support......

Yunuen hang in there! We will get you through this. Your feelings are normal and most people won't understand how you feel. You should join the boot camp group and start taking notes to learn about everything. You will feel better prepared for what will happen. It won't be easy for either of you but you will have a great future together and so much to look forward after boot camp. You will make connections here and I am glad that are reaching out. My son is 20 and a Seabee in Gulfport . He left 7/13/11 and is doing well. Take care!

I can't stop thinking about July 10th, when my fiancée goes out to bootcamp!! That is all.

Sharri - I keep a notebook by my computer and have made massive amounts of notes.  My son leaves in July.  My notes continue to grow but it's all amazing information!  Good luck to your son!
