- I am a single mom. I am a medsurg nurse. My only son has volunteered into the Navy. He is in bootcamp right now (2nd week). I miss him a lot.

- When I heard “Navy,” I:
- Was concerned or afraid
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- I was so glad when he turned 30 years. I said great he will never be taken away to war. Then he came to me and said I want a career in the Navy. I was devastated! When I looked into his eyes and saw how much he wanted us to be proud of him as a son, husband, and father I could only be proud... It's been hard he was 31 yrs this April and he will graduate in this July 2010. The only experience I have is from talking to friends that have had or have family in the Navy very little is said.. I look forward to talking to you.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

This a a great site for finding support and answers to many questions.
Click on the underlined links to groups that will help you:
1. New Moms Stop Here group. Think of this group as your orientation station. We have experienced members who can answer questions and point you in the right direction.
2. Depper’s… in but not yet . is a group for those just waiting for bootcamp to start (Delayed Entry Program)
3. Boot Camp Moms group. Is your son/daughter already in bootcamp? This is the group.
4. OCS Graduate Moms or the NROTC Moms. For those going to be an officer or going to NROTC?
This blog will give you a jump start on how to use the N4M site.
