Thanks to all the "veterans" on here

I can't tell you all enough how many times you have "talked me off the ledge". I know NOTHING about Navy life (my husband's family all retired Air Force) and have no clue what to expect,  Although my father served in the Navy, it was during WWII and things are different than they were 70 years ago.  I know my inner "mother lion" has reared her head a few times wanting to go charging to Great Lakes to protect my cub, but it's time to let go and let him grow to be the man he needs to be. I just…See More

Failed 1st PT :((((

Got a letter from my son last week, and was totally freaking out!  He sounded so down.  This is the first time he has ever been away from me for this long, and we are very close. I wrote him the "mom motivational speech" letter (my older son swears this is the greatest thing ever.)  Got another letter Wednesday and he sounded "a little better" but he failed his PT.  Wishes he would have listened to his dad and I when we kept "harping" about working out to get ready.  How many times does he have…See More

Got the letter today

We received the form letter today and Grant wrote both his dad and myself a personal note.  I THOUGHT I was doing okay, but here come the tears.  I am such a wuss. He did ask me to send him a better toothbrush (my dad and brother are both dentists so it's nice to know he hasn't forgotten all his early childhood training LOL). Now my question is....can I send him a toothbrush????  Looking forward to 17Aug for sure!  Ship 03 Div 253. Anyone else have someone in this ship/division?See More

Need some info please!!

I received "the box" yesterday.  Only thing in it were his clothes and the packet of papers concerning his recruitment/swearing in/etc.  His recruiter called me last Sunday and gave me an address for Grant, he is Ship 3/Div 253 and the address she gave me is different than that on the Fed Ex label.  Which address do I use to write?  He left June 20 and haven't heard from him since the 1 minute call I got the night he reached RTC.See More

Correction to be made!

As if you really could not tell....I am extremely new to this military thing.  My son is a RECRUIT and not a SAILOR.  Thanks to the people filled me in.  I am sure I will have a ton more questions for all the wonderful people on here who can give me a heads up on what to think.  Had to Skype my brother in law in Saudi who is retired Air Force to give me a little bit of an idea on what to expect.  He tells me I will be fine, and Grant will be great.  I just keep that in mind as I wander around…See More

My son is now a sailor!

Cannot begin to express how proud I am of Grant.  He went to bootcamp yesterday and called me for about 30 seconds last night to let me know he made it safely and that he loves me.  Yes, I cried again, but I am so proud and happy he is doing something so positive with his life.  Won't get to talk to him again for 3 weeks and that is going to be tough, but I will suck it up and be happy for him.See More

Welcome to NavyForMoms.com!!

I hope you get all the information here you are looking for.  Please stop by the Survival Guide for New Moms for some of the info to start with.
If you have a new Recruit and need phone cards for them please check out Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE.  I feel that the Family, Loved Ones, nor the Men and Women of our Armed Forces should have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp.  The link above will take you to the website to send the email for the FREE phone cards if you need them.  Please spread the word if you know of anyone who can use this great service!!!

Welcome aboard! Come join us on the Indiana group page on this website. You might also like to visit the MEPs and DEPs group, which is run by a sailor. You will find a lot of helpful info on this group page.
You will also find a Boot Camp group page, which will be another page with a lot of helpful information.
If you have specific questions, please ask...many of us are willing to answer or direct you to someone else who might be able to answer if we can not. My best to you and your sailor to be!
